Expansion Joint
Item Description
A device or completion component designed to enable relative movements between two fixed assembles in the event of thermal expansion or contraction. The forces generated by thermal expansion or contraction can be significant. Expansion joints within the completion assembly prevent any movements or forces from being transmitted to fixed components such as packers or tubing hangers.
MPS Thermal Expansion joints are used to compensate for tubing movement that occurs due to changes in temperature, pressure, or both during normal good operations after the packer has been set. The joints maintain the pressure integrity of the tubing while allowing the string to safely expand and contract. We offer you a range of products with multiple stroke lengths for single- and dual-string completions, standard conditions, H2S and CO2 service, and temperatures higher than 300 degF [149 degC]. The stroke length is selected by calculating the change in tubing length based on the maximum temperature differential expected.
API Spec 5 CT Thermal Expansion Joint
Manufactured according to API Spec 5CT using prime API Monogrammed, seamless oil country tubing. Optional diameters, lengths, weights, and grades are available upon request. Our products are available in a wide range of sizes, weights, lengths, and grades with any combination of the connections.
You can choose to mark monogram or monogramable the product based on your requirements. Custom marking can also be provided on your request or end-customer request
